Welcome message from Ger Rombouts

Head of School Ger Rombouts issues a welcome message for current and future families of the new International School of Breda.

“The following message appears in the most recent brochure for the International School of Breda:”

Welcome to the International School of Breda

I’m very pleased to write these first sentences in the first brochure of our brand-new International School Breda. We are a new school, opening in August 2011, so we don’t (yet) have a long history to promote. What we can promise you is a passionate and motivated team, who collectively have many, many years of teaching experience. We are very happy to be working closely with two highly respected local schools, both of which have a long tradition of excellence in education. As such, the ISB will be firmly anchored in Dutch society. We will actively seek collaboration with local sports clubs, cultural clubs, museums, universities and other learning opportunities.

Although rooted in local society, the ISB will have its own unique atmosphere, with Primary Education, Secondary Education, Day Care and After School activities under one roof. The school will educate children to be responsible, global citizens. In a stimulating and inviting learning environment, the children will be able to discover and explore their unique talents. We will offer first-class international education and professional care, rooted in the principles of tolerance, respect, integrity and open-mindedness. We appreciate that children learn ‘anytime, anywhere,’ so our focus will not exclusively be on helping children uncover knowledge, but equally on the social-emotional development of the whole child.

At the moment of this writing, the first foundation holes are being dug on the sports fields of Mencia de Mendoza Lyceum. Luckily I can show visiting parents that the ISB is more than just a dream. This dream of educators, politicians, and local businessmen comes true in the Summer of 2011.

Exciting months lay ahead of us. A lot of work needs yet to be done, but we are on schedule. I wish everybody involved in this great project, all the parents and especially all our new pupils a great school year 2011 – 2012.

Ger Rombouts
Head of School
