The ISB is ‘non-selective’ and provides the support needed for children with a range of specific educational needs.
We have a Special Educational Needs (SEN) coordinator who supports children, the class teachers and coordinates between external specialists and parents, as appropriate.
We are committed to providing a good education for all of our children. At the time of admission, please share as much information as you can about any special educational needs your child may have. Your child’s education and needs are of the utmost importance to us. By ensuring we have all the information at the admission stage, we are best placed to fully evaluate whether we can provide the right level of support for your child.
Able, Gifted and Talented
We acknowledge that some children are academically gifted or talented. These children often work above the standards expected for their chronological age group. We will identify early if your child displays such characteristics and we support the further development of their skills.
Our provision for able, gifted and talented children is multi-dimensional. Some children can be extended in their learning through class-based differentiation, while other children may be given the opportunity to work in extension groups where learning has a higher-level focus and a quicker pace. We are always happy to discuss this directly with you.
Speech Therapy
It is often difficult to receive speech therapy in English when living abroad. The International School Breda has started a partnership with TinyEYE, Europe’s online Speech Therapy Practice. TinyEye provides English online therapy sessions in the field of voice, speech, language, oral motor difficulties and hearing.
Our Speech and Language Therapist will help to resolve articulation issues, help with language processing and comprehension, improve listening skills, and help to speak, read and write more effectively.
