We believe that your child’s learning experience should be fun, exciting and challenging! We welcome children aged from 3 to 18 years and we’re proud to offer excellent primary and secondary international education under one roof.
We’re in the enviable and exciting position to be creating an outstanding school from the ground up. Our experienced, international team works hard to ensure every child and student in our school receives the highest level of international education.
Our primary school offers children aged 3-11, the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) alongside the Early Years, Literacy and Numeracy strategies from the UK.
Our secondary school is an IBO World School offering students aged 11-16 the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP). Students aged 16-18 follow the Diploma Programme (DP) which is also open to regular Dutch students.
We’re proud of the family atmosphere of our school which has continued to flourish as we have grown. We’re now entering an exciting new phase as we begin planning our brand new school building. We will continue to be located in the beautiful, leafy suburb of the city, Ruitersbos, within easy reach of the centre. Breda is a vibrant, attractive city with a growing international community. It’s a great place to live and work, with plenty to do for all the family.
We look forward to welcoming you and your children so you can see our unique, first-class international school for yourself.
Welcome from the Head of School Ger Rombouts
Our school opened in 2011 with less than 50 children across daycare, primary and secondary. Today, we have over 200 children in primary and secondary. Despite our relatively small size, we are proud of our own little ‘United Nations’ here in Breda, with around 40 nationalities from all over the world represented.
We all take great pride in the warm, family atmosphere of our school. We have worked hard to maintain our small-school mentality and we believe it is important that school management are visible and available to parents and students alike.
We have a passionate and motivated team who really want the school to succeed and they put in a tremendous effort to do so. Having primary and secondary under one roof is a great advantage and not just for the children as they progress through the school – it is also advantageous from an educational perspective. Although primary and secondary are separate and unique, we are united under one vision and mission, creating a cohesiveness and distinctive school culture.
In the few years since our school opened, we have achieved a lot! At the end of our first school year, we officially became an IBO World School. At the start of our third year, our Primary School passed the first official inspection by the Dutch government – a fantastic achievement which is unusual for a newly-opened school! I’m particularly proud of the high marks received for the atmosphere in the school; the respectful way in which our children and students interact with staff and with each other; the quality of care; and school development.
We work closely with two highly-respected local schools: the Dr. De Visser School and the Mencia de Mendoza Lyceum. As such, the ISB is firmly anchored in Dutch society, with our children and students joining their peers for cultural events, activity weeks and excursions. In May 2014, we were particularly proud to be invited to the ‘Education of the Heart’ conference, with special guest the Dalai Lama, where our primary children gave a presentation.
We don’t just provide an international education for our students, we actively encourage our parents to get involved and our Parent Association organise regular coffee mornings giving our parents the opportunity to meet, make friends and have fun.
Our success so far has been based on strong relationships with our parents. And, with our dedicated and passionate team, we will continue to grow and improve as a school. We hope you will visit us soon!
