Message from Head of School
Welcome to our website.
We are still a new school, but we are well-established within the international community of the West Brabant region. Today we have just over 300 children and young people in our primary and secondary departments. Have a look at what our students say about their experiences in our school in this video.
We are part of the Dutch International Schools organisation that provides education for children of internationally mobile parents. We take great pride in the fact that we offer quality education to all ages, from 4 – 18 on our campus. We are housed in a purpose-built building that was completed in 2019. This means our facilities are new, safe and tailored to meet our needs.
Our students in Primary follow the International Primary Curriculum and in Secondary we have the International Baccalaureate Organisation Programme in place. This means that our 11 – 18 year olds follow the Middle Years Programmes and the Diploma Programmes in order to obtain the IB Diploma at the end of their school career. We are very proud of our students who have all passed their IB exams in recent years.
We have a team of professional, driven and caring teachers and support staff who make sure all our students feel welcome and are able to feel supported and at home for the time that they are with us. We aim to provide our students with confidence and a love for life-long learning and everything we do is underpinned by our Mission, Vision and Values.
Our Parent Association is a also a great asset to our school. They provide excellent opportunities for parents and carers to be part of our international community, to enjoy what Breda and the region have to offer and to make friends. If you are new to ISB, please reach out to them and they will be delighted to connect with you.
The ISB team and I look forward to welcoming you and your child(ren) to our school.
Very best wishes,
Vibeke Asbjørnsen
Head of School
Language Friendly School
Our school is part of the Language Friendly School network. We are linguistically and culturally inclusive, we recognise and embrace our students’ multilingualism, and we take action to give space to the home languages within the school community.
At the International School Breda, all children have access to a language friendly-learning environment where they feel accepted and valued for who they are. Children who see that their home language is appreciated build a positive and healthy self-identity and a stronger sense of pride in their cultural heritage.
We are proud to be a Language Friendly School.
