Cambridge trip 2014

MYP 1, 2, 3, Finborough and Cambridge trip 2014

On a dreary Sunday evening a large group of our MYP 1, 2, and 3 students got on a bus to leave to… England! After an exciting trip on a beautiful Stenaline ferry to Harwich we arrived in pouring rain in England. Sadly the bus we were hoping would bring us to our final destination was not there, but after a couple of cold and tired hours of waiting the issue was solved and our bus arrived. The adventure could begin!

Our destination was Finborough Hall activity camp in Stowmarket. And activities we had! Four days were filled with anything from quad biking, to abseiling to English lessons, night navigations, horse riding, and even a smashing disco party. Our students were tested on their bravery and their stamina. They needed to work and live together closely for almost a full week and, despite a few exceptions, everyone managed to do this wonderfully.

Our accommodation may not have been a five star hotel but the enthusiasm of the Xplore team and the fun stuff they planned for us more than made up for the lack of luxury. They also provided us with excellent meals and we were even allowed to change the programme on occasion.

ISB Cambridge trip 2014Highlight of the week was however our day trip to Cambridge, a historic city where students got to enjoy a visit to the King’s College and went punting on the river Cam. Yet it was the shopping in the afternoon the group was looking forward to the most. Needless to say they came back with their bags and pockets full of sweets, but thankfully they also remembered their families and bought some really nice souvenirs.

Time always flies when you are having fun and so before we even knew it Friday evening came and we were packing our bags again. The students had a great time, but they were also happy to go home and see their families again and tell them of all the things they did and saw. All in all the trip was a great success and we hope for many happy returns!
